You might wondered how my final artworks came into being. When I work with a client no one job is exactly like another, but I always stick to a certain process that has proved good practice for both me and the client – with both parties happy upon completion.

I always ask for a detailed briefing first which becomes my guideline for the entire production phase. The briefing is a descriptive written instruction that both parties need to agree upon before the project goes into production. It defines key characteristics of the job ahead, such as deadlines or brand requirements. It can be as simple as a photo reference or, in some cases, compile to an entire map.

After that, I start making the first scribbles (idea sketches) which are either in pencil or digitally drawn. These illustrate my ideas in a rough form so that a visual direction can be decided on. 

Once a direction is selected, I start making more elaborate designs based on the selected scribble(s). In this stage we will also try different colours and agree on smaller details. 

The final phase begins when these details and refinements have been agreed upon and applied. Now it is about applying the icing to the cake or finishing polish to the design–that extra that makes it work and look final.

All my pricing includes three correction/feedback loops per stage. Which is usually more than enough. This also helps to make people think a little longer about their decision, thus avoiding unnecessary time loss.
